This song is as emotionally raw as it is musically beautiful, a confession of anger, jealousy, and regret set against a delicate backdrop of Spanish guitar and swelling strings.

Song of the Day #2,288: ‘Daughter’ – Loudon Wainwright III

loudon_wainwrightI went to a wedding a few weeks back and when the bride danced with her father, it was to this Loudon Wainwright III track.

Perhaps it was the emotion of the moment, coupled with the fact that I have two daughters of my own, but I instantly fell in love with the song.

‘Daughter’ was covered by Wainwright for the Knocked Up soundtrack. The original is by a man named Peter Blegvad.

Best 90s Artists – #4 – Pearl Jam

Die-hard Pearl Jam fans would likely be insulted to see them labelled as a 90s band. After all, Pearl Jam has released four albums since 2000 (all of which went Gold in the U.S.), they are currently recording another and they have toured consistently and successfully for over two decades.

But there’s no denying that, along with fellow Seattle rockers Nirvana, Pearl Jam defines the grunge era.
