Song of the Day #3,108: ‘Texas Pride’ – Miranda Lambert

texas10

Couldn’t resist another early Miranda Lambert tune. And I’ll use this opportunity to link up two Lyle Lovett songs I would have eagerly posted had I not already featured them on the blog: ‘That’s Right (You’re Not From Texas)‘ and ‘South Texas Girl.’

[Verse 1]
Well they say there’s lots of fans
For them Texas country bands
Playing all them songs about Texas pride
Well you can make one little bet
I ain’t seen my fan club yet
But I’m hell bent for getting ’em on my side

[Verse 2]
I sing The Eyes of Texas, make my Home on the Range
And I shout out T for Texas every hour
I’ve been drowned in Whiskey River
And I’ve played down at LaGrange
And the Rose of San Antone is my favorite flower

[Verse 3]
I saw Robert Earl Keen
At the dance hall down in Gruene
He said the party never ends down Aggy Way
Yeah and Dallas has their show with ol’ David Allan Coe
He never even called me by my name

[Chorus]
Well I can rope a steer
Drink a keg of Lone Star beer
I got three pet armadillos and a pick-up truck
I got a redneck for a mother
And I’m here to tell you brother
If you ain’t born in Texas then you’re out of luck
‘Cause them people down in Texas don’t give a dog-gone
If you ain’t born in Texas then you better go home

  1. Dana says:

I was hoping for “That’s Right You’re Not From Texas.” You could have done a live version! Certainly would have preferred that to th the awful Willie Nelson song penned by that politician.
