Song of the Day #2,238: ‘Walk On Rainbows’ – Shea Seger

shea_seger_mayChecking in on faded musical artists is like looking up former high school classmates on Facebook. It’s almost always a little bit sad.

Shea Seger released The May Street Project in 2000 to a fair bit of critical acclaim and promises of a fruitful career as a songwriter and performer.

Nobody heard from her again until 2010.

That year, she self-released a self-titled album after spending time in London. And nobody has heard from her since.

Her website is frozen in time in early 2011, as if she was abducted by aliens shortly after uploading her album to iTunes.

I can understand fan sites going dormant, but her own official website? Did she find a real job and just give up on the music thing? If she is still performing, wouldn’t she take the time to throw a YouTube video or blog entry on the site once in awhile?

At night I only walk on rainbows
Wishin’ they never had an end
So I have thrown away my raincoat
I wanna feel the rain again

Tonight I fell off of my rainbow
And it all turned black and white
I said, “Shea, you need to wake yourself out of this place
Let you fall down for once this time”

‘Cause you’re not gonna break me
Even when you shake me
Cavin’ in I run, I run so fast

Wakin’ up I saw this blue sky
I had slept the night outside
But then the sun came up to greet me
It was then I realized I cried

You’re not gonna break me
Even when you shake me
Cavin’ in I run, I run so fast

No, no, no, no, no, no, no
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
