Lake Street Drive is a Boston jazz/pop band formed in 2004 who came to my attention recently due to their inclusion in the Inside Llewyn Davis tour.
T Bone Burnett hit the road with a group of musicians from the film’s soundtrack as well as a few others (including these guys) whose music has a similar sound or spirit.
Like so many bands these days, Lake Street Drive got their big break thanks to a viral video. Today’s SOTD, a promotional clip for an upcoming EP, features the band performing a cover of the Jackson 5’s ‘I Want You Back’ on a Massachusetts street corner.
The clip spread on Twitter, eventually amassing more than 1.5 million views and landing the band on Ellen, Letterman and The Colbert Report.
