I know even less about Wang Chung than any of the other bands I’ve featured this week. ‘Everybody Have Fun Tonight’ is the only song of theirs I can name off the top of my head.
I had no idea that ‘Dance Hall Days,’ a song I really like, was performed by these British New Wavers. Good for them.
Did you know that Wang Chung was originally named Huang Chung? That is the “first note in the Chinese classical music scale,” according to Wikipedia.
I’ve always been amused by Wang Chung’s use of their own band name in the chorus of ‘Everybody Have Fun Tonight.’ “Everybody Wang Chung tonight!” they cry, as if that is something one can just do.

Meet Me In Montauk 
I can’t begin to tell you how much I loved this song back in the day, and how much I was starting to get into this band right through “To live and Die in L.A.” But then they just lost me with “Everybody Have Fun Tonight.” It’s a shame that your exposure to this band came through that song and not this one (though it sounds like you liked them through this song without knowing it was them).
In a way, this song and their sound reminded me of the type of stuff the Kinks were putting out around this time, such as “Come Dancing.” Except wang Chung put a bit of that new wave spin on it.
