I’m straying a bit from my usual pattern and going with two theme weeks in a row. I’m also running this week’s theme posts from Sunday through Thursday rather than Monday through Friday.
Why? Because this week’s theme is Christmas! From today through the holiday I will feature a Christmas song of one sort or another, starting today with an unlikely duet.
Over the past several years, Aimee Mann has worked hard to associate herself with Christmas. She released an EP of Christmas songs in 2005 and followed that with the full-length Christmas album One More Drifter in the Snow in 2006. Then she launched The Aimee Mann Christmas Show, now in its third year, a traveling revue that is part music and part comedy and features a charmingly eccentric group of actors and musicians.
Today’s clip is from that show and features John Krasinski (Jim from The Office) in fine voice. Nice way to kick off Christmas week, if you ask me.
And as an added bonus, below this week’s song is a clip of Aimee Mann’s ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,’ from the One More Drifter in the Snow album. I think this is my favorite Christmas song, and I love her version.
Very cool! I, of course, will be awaiting the entry of Frank Sinatra’s Jingle Bells version that sparked such debate some months ago. 🙂
Merry Christmas week!
1, Great theme week
2. What’s with Aimee Mann’s Christmas fixation?
3. How did John get involved (twice, at least, I’m assuming, based on the photo)?
I also love Mann’s version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” which may be my favorite Christmas song, as well. Hope you’ll feature Dad’s favorite “O Little Town of Bethlehem” “:-)
I also hope to see the Bing Crosby/David Bowie gem I mentioned a while back. Hard to imagine Christmas week without Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby or David Bowie.
I’m kinda partial to White Christmas. And play Sinatra’s Bells at your peril!
It’s waiting for you here in Middlebury Dana 🙂
