no_secretsMy third favorite album of 1972 (my birth year) is a record I consider among the most quintessentially 70s albums I own — Carly Simon’s No Secrets.

I’ve written about this on the blog before so I won’t dwell on it again here, but this record is forever cemented in my memory as one of those adult artifacts my parents shared with my sister and me, either directly or inadvertently.

Here’s an album I’ve been listening to, quite literally, since I was born.

Carly Simon’s No Secrets was released in the fall of 1972, a few months before I entered the world. And while I’m not sure my parents were the sort to buy a record on or around its release date, I’m not going to nitpick.

Song of the Day #963: ‘The Carter Family’ – Carly Simon

Carly Simon’s No Secrets is another of several 70s albums to make this list of great records. In fact, seven of the 20 albums I’m featuring come from that decade.

However, most of those 70s albums are records I discovered much later in life, during high school or college (early 90s). Only a few reached me as a child, and in each case it was thanks to my parents. One was Billy Joel’s The Stranger and another is today’s featured record.
