Song of the Day #5,735: ‘Don’t Forget Me’ – Maggie Rogers

I first learned about Maggie Rogers from my daughter Fiona, who loved the song ‘Dog Years’ back in the late 2010s.

I then watched the viral video of Pharrell Williams listening to her song ‘Alaska’ during an NYU class in 2016. It’s hard not to both appreciate her talent and root for her success after watching that gem.

Somehow, though, I’ve never taken the time to dig deeper into her music. She has released two studio albums and several EPs since 2017, plus two independently produced albums before that, but I haven’t listened to any of them.

Song of the Day #4,393: ‘Dog Years’ – Maggie Rogers

Before I get to today’s song, allow me to wish a very Happy Birthday to my dear father. Have a wonderful, socially distant, day, Dad, and I look forward to celebrating with you soon!

Today’s track might be my favorite that Fiona has brought to my attention. Maggie Rogers is a Maryland-based singer-songwriter who has been mentored by Brandi Carlile and was nominated for a Best New Artist Grammy earlier this year. ‘Dog Years’ is a track from her debut EP, 2017’s Now That the Light is Fading.
