Song of the Day #5,734: ‘One Call Away’ – Chingy Featuring J. Weav

The week of March 13, 2004, saw Usher atop the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Yeah!,’ which occupied the #1 spot for 12 consecutive weeks that year.

At #2 is ‘One Call Away’ by Chingy, an artist I had never heard of until he showed up on Throwback Weekends in August (with ‘Right Thurr‘) and November (with ‘Holidae In‘). Those tracks peaked at #2 and #3, respectively.

Song of the Day #5,628: ‘Holidae In’ – Chingy feat. Ludacris & Snoop Dogg

Throwing back to the week of November 29, 2003, we find Beyoncé and Sean Paul still dominating the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Baby Boy.’ That song was in the last of its nine weeks atop the chart, soon to be replaced by #2 track ‘Stand Up‘ by Ludacris.

At #3 was the Outkast classic ‘Hey Ya!,’ a song that prompted me to wax nostalgic 12 years ago on the blog. That song would soon ascend to its own nine-week run at #1.

Song of the Day #5,523: ‘Right Thurr’ – Chingy

Throwing back to the week of August 16, 2003, we find Beyoncé hanging on to the top spot with ‘Crazy in Love,’ halfway through its run of eight weeks at #1.

Below that is ‘Right Thurr’ by St. Louis rapper Chingy. This song spent (non-consecutive) five weeks at #2, held off by Queen Bey’s first major hit. That seems fair, given how much better ‘Crazy in Love’ is than this track.
