Song of the Day #5,500: ‘Coming Around Again’ – Carly Simon

The final performer inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class of 2022 is the great songwriter and performer Carly Simon. Simon has been eligible for Hall inclusion since 1997 but was nominated for the first time last year.

Simon made it into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1994, and is certainly among the best of her generation in that regard, but she is equally deserving of recognition as a performer. She has released dozens of albums, several going platinum, and has nine top 20 hits under her belt. Her sole #1 release, ‘You’re So Vain,’ is among the most iconic American pop songs.

Song of the Day #3,330: ‘Anticipation’ – Carly Simon

While we wait for the tallying of the Montauk Madenss Final Four votes, I’m going to acknowledge a few acts I wish I’d included in the lineup.

Song of the Day #2,488: ‘The Right Thing To Do’ – Carly Simon

no_secretsI could wax poetic about the greatness of Carly Simon’s No Secrets, one of the best albums of my birth year, 1972.

But I just had the great idea to do a top five or top ten of the best albums from that year (that I know) followed by a list of albums from that year that I don’t know but should. I can sing Simon’s praises then.

Song of the Day #1,420: ‘His Friends are More than Fond of Robin’ – Carly Simon

Best Albums of the 70s – #11
No Secrets – Carly Simon (1972)

Here’s an album I’ve been listening to, quite literally, since I was born.

Carly Simon’s No Secrets was released in the fall of 1972, a few months before I entered the world. And while I’m not sure my parents were the sort to buy a record on or around its release date, I’m not going to nitpick.
