Song of the Day #2,664: ‘Hello’ – Adele

adele_helloIt was theoretically possible that Adele’s appeal had faded in the four years since her smash hit 21 dominated the pop culture scene. Sure, ‘Skyfall’ was an Oscar-winning success but we live in an era of short attention spans.

And doesn’t the music world belong to Taylor Swift now?

But those doubts have been shattered, along with a number of records, by the release of ‘Hello,’ the first single from Adele’s upcoming album 25.

Song of the Day #2,295: ‘Take It All’ – Adele

adele_21As hard as it is to believe, we’re just a couple of months away from the end of the first half of this decade.

Song of the Day #1,941: ‘First Love’ – Adele

adele_19Sometimes the iTunes “randomness” is downright creepy.

A week ago I wrote about the difference in quality between Adele’s first and second albums, and this week the Random iTunes Fairy serves up a track from her debut to either prove or refute my point.

Song of the Day #1,933: ‘He Won’t Go’ – Adele

adele_21Today’s Random Weekend selection is the fifth cut from Adele’s blockbuster 2011 album, 21, to make the blog. And the six I haven’t featured are just as good.

This album was such an unexpected masterpiece. Adele’s first album (19) was a bore. I liked ‘Chasing Pavements’ well enough but I could barely make it through the rest. What happened in the intervening two years that prepared Adele to write and record such a stunning record?
