Song of the Day #6,153: ‘He Don’t Love You (Like I Love You)’ – Tony Orlando & Dawn

Throwing back to the week of May 10, 1975, we find Tony Orlando & Dawn atop the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘He Don’t Love You (Like I Love You),’ a cover of the Jerry Butler song ‘He Will Break Your Heart.’

Butler’s version was also a hit, making it to #7 on this chart in 1960. The song was covered by more than a dozen artist in the 60s and early 70s, but Orlando’s 1975 version was the most successful.

Song of the Day #6,152: ‘Pink Pony Club’ – Chappell Roan

Shaboozey sits at #5 on the Hot 100 this week with ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy),’ an absolute juggernaut spending its 54th week on the chart. It has spent 51 of those weeks in the top ten, nine short of the record currently held by Teddy Swims’ ‘Lose Control.’

It just might catch it, but Swims’ track is hanging on and padding the record, sitting at #9 this week.

Song of the Day #6,151: ‘Nokia’ – Drake

Holding down the fourth spot on the latest Billboard Hot 100 is Drake with the song ‘Nokia,’ the second single from the album Some Sexy Songs 4 U, a collaboration with fellow Canadian rapper PartyNextDoor.

This is the best performing of four singles released from the album so far, having peaked at #2. It’s been two years since Drake had a #1 hit, after having at least one almost every year before that. Being on the losing end of the feud with Kendrick Lamar didn’t do him any favors.

Song of the Day #6,150: ‘Ordinary’ – Alex Warren

In the #3 spot of the latest Billboard Hot 100 installment is ‘Ordinary,’ a folk-pop love song by singer-songwriter Alex Warren.

Warren became famous for skateboard and prank videos on YouTube starting when he was 10 years old. He later co-founded the Hype House collective, a group of TikTok influencers who shared a Los Angeles mansion. He kicked off his music career in 2021 and had little success in the U.S. before this year.

Song of the Day #6,149: ‘Die with a Smile’ – Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars

At #2 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 is ‘Die with a Smile,’ the collab between Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars.

The song was released in August of 2024 and kicked around the top ten for months until finally reaching #1 in January of this year. It has been kept alive on the charts by the release of multiple alternate versions, a Grammy win, and inclusion on Gaga’s latest album, Mayhem.
