And in the #3 spot, its peak position, was British soul band Hot Chocolate’s ‘You Sexy Thing.’
I know this song well from its use in movies (such as The Full Monty and Boogie Nights) and commercials (such as the Burger King Double Whopper and Verizon’s iPhone 17 promotion). I didn’t know it was recorded by a band called Hot Chocolate, and never would have guessed they were British.
This was Hot Chocolate’s biggest U.S. hit, though they did land two others in the top ten (‘Emma’ and ‘Every 1’s a Winner’). Both of those were new to me, and they’re damn good.
