Song of the Day #6,428: ‘Red Dragonfly’ – Cho Yong Pil

Continuing a look at my favorite movie music scenes of 2025…

Sometimes I’m watching a movie and I get to a particular scene and somewhere in the back of my mind I think, “this is totally going on my year-end music moments list.” Such was the case with a darkly comic encounter in the first half of No Other Choice.

The protagonist, Yoo Man-su (played by Lee Byung-hun), is a career paper company supervisor who loses his job and has no success finding a new one. So he hatches a scheme to identify and eliminate the competition.

His first attempt does not go as planned. He enters the man’s home, where this classic Korean pop song is playing, turns up the music and holds him at gunpoint using a hilarious homemade silencer (a Russian doll of oven mitts).

Confusion ensues, with the victim mistaking Man-su for his wife’s lover, and Man-su berating him for not taking more initiative. Then the wife shows up and things get crazier still.
