The fifth and sixth slots on the current Billboard Hot 100 belong to the same artist: Sabrina Carpenter.
My pick for Song of the Summer, ‘Espresso‘ currently sits at #5 after peaking at #3. It still boggles my mind that this song never reached #1. Maybe it still will.
Just below it is ‘Please Please Please,’ the second single from Carpenter’s upcoming album Short n’ Sweet.
‘Please Please Please’ did reach #1, spending a week there before falling to #6. It’s a sugar-sweet warning shot fired directly at the singer’s actor boyfriend (Barry Keoghan), cautioning him not to embarrass her. Keoghan is a good enough sport to star in the music video.
If these two addictive songs are indicative of what’s to come on Short n’ Sweet, we’re due for another stellar addition to the ‘Ladies of 2024’ album lineup I covered in June.
