My final song of 2023 is the first song to reach #1 in 1964. Today we throw back to the week of December 27, 1963, when Bobby Vinton’s ‘There! I’ve Said it Again’ sat at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, just behind ‘Dominique‘ by The Singing Nun, a week before it hit the top spot.
This was Vinton’s third #1 on the chart, following ‘Roses Are Red (My Love)‘ in July of 1962 and ‘Blue Velvet‘ in October of 1963. He would top the chart one more time, with 1964’s ‘Mr. Lonely.’
Bobby Vinton was the Drake of the early 60s.
Thank you to all of my readers for sticking with me through another year of musings on music and movies. Have a Happy New Year and a great start to 2024!
It’s better than burning inside
I love you, no use to pretend
There! I’ve said it again
I’ve said it, what more can I say?
Believe me, there’s no other way
I love you, I will to the end
There! I’ve said it again
I try to drum up
A phrase that will sum up
All that I feel for you
But what good are phrases?
The thought that amazes
Is that you love me and it’s heavenly
Forgive me for wanting you so
But one thing I want you to know
I’ve loved you since heaven knows when
There! I’ve said it again
Forgive me for wanting you so
But one thing I want you to know
I’ve loved you since heaven knows when
There! I’ve said it again
You maybe the first and only person to compare Bobby Vinton to Drake.😀
Happy New Year to you as well!
I never liked Bobby Vinton’s songs. Found them to be rather sappy. Thanks for another wonderful year of blogs and Happy New Year!
