My final example of an AI-generated song features two artists once locked in a bitter feud. Taylor Swift and Katy Perry squashed their beef on their own a few years ago, but if they hadn’t the machines were ready to do it for them.
This is a pretty convincing rendition, in part because ‘Roar’ sounds a bit like a Taylor Swift song from the early to mid 2010s. That makes sense, as many of Swift’s hits from that period were co-written by Max Martin, as was ‘Roar.’
The legality of AI-generated songs could be tested if one of the many artists being parroted decides to sue. Among the questions the courts might have to answer is whether something like this differs materially from a soundalike tribute band (provided the AI song isn’t trying to pass itself off as the real thing).

I just don’t find this application of AI all that interesting, mostly because these covers lack the interpretive style of the vocalist. As a parlor trick, however, I suppose hearing a modern song sung by Elvis, Sinatra, Ray Charles, etc. might be fun.
