Song of the Day #3,618: ‘Whatever It Takes’ – Imagine Dragons

Imagine Dragons holds the #12 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 with ‘Whatever It Takes,’ the third single from their third studio album, Evolve.

The first two singles, ‘Believer’ and ‘Thunder,’ each made it as high as #4. Will this track join them in the top ten? Stay tuned to find out! (Actually, I will likely never write about this song again, so if you’re truly curious, I’d encourage you to visit Billboard.com).

Song of the Day #3,617: ‘Freaky Friday’ – Lil Dicky feat. Chris Brown

Rounding out Billboard’s Top Ten are two songs I have already featured. Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’, which has spent 38 weeks on the chart and 6 weeks at the #1 spot, sits at #9. And Ariana Grande’s ‘No Tears Left to Cry,’ which I wrote about just two weeks ago, is hanging on at #10.

At #11 we have ‘Freaky Friday,’ by comic rapper Lil Dicky. Drawing inspiration from the Lindsay Lohan movie, this song has Lil Dicky and Chris Brown swap bodies and rap as each other.

Song of the Day #3,616: ‘Never Be the Same’ – Camila Cabello

Camila Cabello has the distinction of recording Camila, the first album I ever downloaded after signing up for the Amazon Music streaming service.

She also sits at #8 on Billboard’s Hot 100 with ‘Never Be the Same,’ the lead-off track from that album.

I’m sure she’s more proud of the former accomplishment.

Song of the Day #3,615: ‘Look Alive’ – BlocBoy JB feat. Drake

Occupying the #7 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 is ‘Look Alive’ by BlocBoy JB, featuring none other than, you guessed it, Drake. That gives Drake three songs in the top seven. And it won’t be the last time we hear from him this week.

BlocBoy JB is a Memphis rapper and former gang member who has released a number of mixtapes but is enjoying his first whiff of the charts with this track. Pretty sure he has Drake to thank.

Song of the Day #3,614: ‘Get Me Away From Here, I’m Dying’ – Belle and Sebastian

Today’s Random iTunes Selection comes at a good time.

I’ve been a bit down on Belle and Sebastian lately due to the uncharacteristic mediocrity of their most recent release. The band’s first new material since 2015’s Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance is a collection of EPs that combine to form a 15-track album titled How to Solve Our Human Problems. And for my money, it’s the weakest thing they’ve ever recorded.
