The Head and the Heart are a band I expected would become a favorite of mine based on the first few songs I heard. Maybe they still will.

The Seattle indie band’s sophomore album, Let’s Be Still, has a great acoustic sound in the same vein as Mumford & Sons and Fleet Foxes — that whole hipster folk rock throwback thing. These days that feels a little obvious, but it’s still a great sound.

Despite the early excitement the album generated, I haven’t returned to it since. That’s my own fault — I need to make an effort to bring some of my recent purchases into my car.

Despite being an album guy, I often leave the stereo on ‘random’ and enjoy a sampling of my music collection. I’d like to take the time to get to know albums like this one that I’ve bought but haven’t spent much time with.
