We don’t need each other now
We don’t need the city
The creed or the culture now
And I feel the colour alive
I feel the colour
And I feel the streets are pulling me down
So people of the city
I don’t need your counsel now
I don’t need that good advice
You don’t have my lover’s touch
You don’t have my number
We don’t need each other now
The creed or the culture
We can move beyond it now
Now the wolf is knocking at my door
Bang-bangin’ it asks for more
Stand here, we stand tall
We could move beyond these walls
And I don’t need your counsel
And I don’t need these city streets
And I don’t need your good advice
Because we can move beyond it now
You don’t have my number
We don’t need each other now
Who create all the culture
You don’t have my lover’s touch
Because I feel
I feel alive
I feel, I feel alive
I feel that the streets are all far from here
Do you even hear me?
Do you even know my name?
Can you see the ocean there?
You don’t have my lover’s touch
You don’t have my number
Can you hear me?
Are you even listening now?
Because you don’t have my number
We don’t need each other now
You passing back under
You don’t have my lover’s touch
Because you don’t have my number
And I don’t need no one now
I don’t need the city streets
Who create all the culture now

The video seems to have been taken down. See what happens when you set the blog controls to auto-pilot?
Weird… first it was down, and then it showed up as a Robyn Hitchcock performance at the same radio station. I’ve updated it again to, hopefully, the right one.
It consistently amazes me that you know about any of these artists. This song sounds like a lesser water-downed version of a Vampire Weekend song. I’d rather put on a Vampire Weekend record.
Actually, in this case I’m as ignorant of the band as you. I just happened upon this clip while searching the KCRW archive and found it interesting.
