Song of the Day #944: ‘Halo’ – Beyoncé

After the unsettling dream interaction with Taylor Swift, I’m moving on to the woman who is in every way my type — the true dream girl, Beyoncé.

Every couple has “the list.” My wife’s contains George Clooney and Clive Owen and a few others who circulate in and out of the next few slots. I think the guy from Hawaii Five-O is probably camping out on there right now.

I have Beyoncé. She’s in slots one through four, and these days let’s say slot five goes to Amy Adams in The Fighter form. But mostly it’s just Beyoncé because, really, who else do you need?

Today’s song is ‘Halo,’ featured in another one of those videos that shows Beyoncé looking about three or four different kinds of amazing.

Michael Ealy, an actor who has been in a lot of TV shows and several movies (he’s currently on The Good Wife and I saw him in the short-lived FlashForward last year), landed the supporting role in this video. His job involves watching her dance in a black leotard, cuddling with her on a couch and in bed, dancing with her, brushing his teeth with her, holding a friggin’ puppy with her and coming thisclose to kissing her.

Beats waiting tables, huh, jackass?

Remember those walls I built
Well, baby they’re tumbling down
And they didn’t even put up a fight
They didn’t even make up a sound

I found a way to let you in
But I never really had a doubt
Standing in the light of your halo
I got my angel now

It’s like I’ve been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin’
It’s the risk that I’m takin’
I ain’t never gonna shut you out

Everywhere I’m looking now
I’m surrounded by your embrace
Baby I can see your halo
You know you’re my saving grace

You’re everything I need and more
It’s written all over your face
Baby I can feel your halo
Pray it won’t fade away

I can feel your halo halo halo
I can see your halo halo halo

Hit me like a ray of sun
Burning through my darkest night
You’re the only one that I want
Think I’m addicted to your light

I swore I’d never fall again
But this don’t even feel like falling
Gravity can’t forget
To pull me back to the ground again

Feels like I’ve been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin’
The risk that I’m takin’
I’m never gonna shut you out

Everywhere I’m looking now
I’m surrounded by your embrace
Baby I can see your halo
You know you’re my saving grace

You’re everything I need and more
It’s written all over your face
Baby I can feel your halo
Pray it won’t fade away

I can feel your halo halo halo
I can see your halo halo halo
Halo, halo

Everywhere I’m looking now
I’m surrounded by your embrace
Baby I can see your halo
You know you’re my saving grace

You’re everything I need and more
It’s written all over your face
Baby I can feel your halo
Pray it won’t fade away

I can feel your halo halo halo

I truly dislike this song, particularly the annoying chorus. But any video showing off Beyonce is easy on the eyes and I can certainly see why she occupies the top spot, or apparently every spot, on your “list.”

So when are you going to share the dreams you are having about her?:)

    That’s for another blog.
