Well, I knew this day would come eventually. There are hundreds of thousands (millions? probably millions) of songs in the world but not enough for me to write about one per day for more than a couple of years. As it turns out, 620 proved to be the magic number. Admit it… how many of you bet I’d never break out of the teens?
I want to thank everybody who made a point to visit this blog every day, or at least once in awhile, and join in on the conversation.
And thanks of course to the hundreds of artists whose work I’ve featured here… performers who have moved me, perplexed me, made me happy and sad, fired off my brain cells or just made me want to dance.
Oh, and one more thing… Happy April Fools Day! (You didn’t think you could get rid of me that easy, did you?)
It’s time to call it a day
They’ve burst your pretty balloon
And taken the moon away
It’s time to wind up the masquerade
Just make your mind up the piper must be paid
The party’s over
The candles flicker and dim
You danced and dreamed through the night
It seemed to be right just being with him
Now you must wake up, all dreams must end
Take off your makeup, the party’s over
It’s all over, my friend
The party’s over
It’s time to call it a day
Now you must wake up, all dreams must end
Take off your makeup, the party’s over
It’s all over, my friend

You really had me for a moment there. I know that Amy has been working on her guest blogs so, my first thought was that maybe you were going to run those and then call it a day. Glad you were only joking.
Given the scare you just gave me, I realize that I need to be more thankful for your SOTDs and so, from now on, I am going to make a concerted effort to be less critical of your song choices, especially the country ones.
Okay, April Fools:)
Sheesh, that was not funny. My incredibly slow computer wouldn’t upload the next page, so I just had to sit here waiting and wondering if you could possibly be about to say what I thought you were about to say. 😛 (and, yeah, I wasn’t so thrilled I was writing guest posts for a defunct blog!)
In honor of the fact that you were just kidding, I will go listen to some Belle & Sebastian and Rufus Wainwright songs to celebrate.
(I didn’t really have to say April Fool’s, did I?)
You really had me fooled for awhile there! I was reading it out loud to Dad and then came to the April Fool’s part, whew! Glad you’re still up to the challenge!
